With the holiday season in full swing you might have lots of questions about holiday entitlement and pay. Here’s a quick rundown on some of the things you need to know about holidays. So, are you entitled to holiday? If you are in full-time or part-time employment or agency or casual worker then you are entitled to holiday. But how much holiday do you get? The legal minimum entitlements is 28 days a year for full-time employees and this usually includes bank holidays. Anything less than full time is worked out on a pro-rata basis. What is included in your holiday pay? Well, you should receive a week’s pay for a weeks holiday. But this isn’t always the case. Especially for employees with normal working hours. There have been several recent cases arguing this point and the position now is that normal elements of pay such as commission, bonus and non-guaranteed overtime should be included. However this only applies to four weeks of the minimum 5.6 week leave entitlement. These are just some of the questions that we get asked about holidays and pay.
