Taxes as an Online Teacher – gogokid / VIPKID independent contractor life

Stephen Childs

  1. I was in the exact same situation as you. Where did you get your taxes done at? This has actually given me anxiety this year since I made more.

  2. Hi Janice and Amber! Great video at an especially pertinent time of year when we're all thinking about taxes. I started working for Gogokid in September. Do you think I need to create an LLC, or can I continue in 2019 without one? Thanks!

  3. Loving this. CPA's are great. I will NEVER use one of the big name tax companies again. They charge way too much and they don't seem to care at all. We usually use Turbo Tax. This year will be strange for me as I worked in a B&M until May this year and began Online in August.
Oh my she said the A word. 😉
Janice, do you have a blue hair? 😉
Thank you Amber and Janice. I am going to look into how much Amber charges to do taxes.
also: do you do these meetings on Zoom? Do you prefer it over Skype?
    Thanks MENTOR!

  4. Thank you, Janice–You nailed it again! Thank you Amber! Hey Amber, do you think I can claim the expenses of my two cutest pampered pooch props? 😉 And my manicure!!?? 😀 Thanks Ladies!

  5. Can we do Educator Expense? Or is that for in-country educators only? How do we find a local CPA?

  6. Hi! First time filing as an independent contractor and wondering do we get a 1099 from GoGoKid?

  7. What if you live/work abroad and have dual nationality? I´m not really sure how to handle that and it just wouldn´t make sense to pay double taxes…

  8. Hello everyone! This is Amber (from the video) and I just wanted to let you know that I still have availability for this tax season. I would be more than happy to help with your taxes this year! My prices are often less than doing your return yourself and you receive year-round personalized help and advice as a bonus! Feel free to email me for more information at [email protected]

  9. Hi Janice, are VIPKID teachers required to file quarterly taxes, or is it okay to still file the traditional yearly taxes? I’m a bit confused as some VIPKID blogs addressing taxes mention that you must file quarterly taxes otherwise you’ll get additional fines from the IRS.. Some state that it’s ok to file once a year.. Thank you! Maya

  10. thanks so much! just got hired and already thinking about taxes, ha. heading to amber's website right now 😉
