My Sister is in Japan!

hey guys good morning today I get to introduce you to my sister because she is here in Japan with me now hi she wants to take a look at some clothes I’m gonna take her to my local thrift shop and we might stop by as a toy store as well because there’s something that I think she will want to get there so that’s our plan for today first I’m going to show you this small haul of stuff that my sister brought me back from Canada all the stuff that I requested that I can’t find in Japan easily I didn’t ask for these what I love these I’m so glad they brought some nice specula fetch cookies so good tampons and pads because I really don’t like the Japanese ones comfy some advil they don’t have advil here it’s the only painkiller that I like and I can opener like the most non exciting haul ever okay Japanese cat openers are strange and they’re way too much work they like don’t have a blade on them so you need to use so much power to get the can open and they’re just exhausting so I wanted a can opener with a blade and I have one and I’m really happy and I can enjoy cooking again so yeah that is my small canada haul and my grandma gave us a cat toy for the cat and they absolutely love it it’s just like it’s this really strange toy it’s these rolled up like cardboard or young pieces I don’t even know but the cats love it it’s on this wire so it makes it kind of like wave around in this weird pattern kind of like a bug I think that’s why they like it I can’t Anna o Mara really likes it too birds lots of birds [Music] these cute I like one yeah to $3 pretty good that’s a really good place yeah okay I’ll try these on you find anything like your overall oh yeah I feel like this would look good on you mm-hmm don’t like straight because I don’t like little why anything like the overalls okay yeah absolutely so for what cute skirts okay what kind of good do you like like tight ones or okay okay so a nice pretty $3 like a what I already yeah yeah [Music] oh this is so cool don’t buy that now I know it’s so hot like hardcore winter jacket yeah [Music] clastic love you could probably get a nice jacket here actually your anything later like a fitted jacket absolutely especially since it’s almost summer they’re probably going to be on sale look what I found someone else got rid of their beautiful mousey lucky bag signed [Music] so my sister is looking for weird English shirts for her friend that’s what they requested as a souvenir we found this one but it’s like sleeveless and smash so not exactly what you had in mind I think [Music] [Laughter] we’re at that poised for now and my sister’s looking at the perler beads these are the little one oh so cute – this looks like the size I have oh I wish to go okay you want you to board right I have the board oh good yeah oh that little squeezers got a few papers oh it makes it shiny white shiny we stopped at the grocery store on the way home from the recycle store and got dinner with whipped cream this is soy whipped cream I’m so lucky that I can get it at my local supermarket not all of the supermarket’s carry it the fruit was decently priced four dollars two dollars four dollars one dollar mmm two dollars and I think four dollars for the oranges as well it seems probably expensive a lot see you guys that live in America or Canada but for Japan those are reasonable fruit prices they were on the cheaper side so we got lots so Shea was struggling with the money today when we were paying for stuff at the store so we’re gonna have a little Japanese Mahakala help me great so these are like five bucks in clothes in place five bucks each okay then we got the hundred and I got a bun going to use so the solid silver is 100 you only got like a 10 bucks right yeah I usually built okay cause you feel like a dollar thanks Lily helping out with open and then the silver with the hole in it is 50 these are ten is there like ten cents they look like penny kind of oh yeah yeah okay these are perfect five and those are the luckier ones yeah if you tried if you go to shrines and you want to put money in you should use the five yen and then I get blue the ones you feel like aluminum ya feel worthless but remember I like planet yeah they’re so light these are the Japanese coins 500 yen 100 yen they all have a number on the box so it’s like it’s pretty hard to go wrong if you look at them if e and yeah the 5y only has the 5 in kanji they have there’s no other numbers on it we’re feeling like 100 Munna stop it the one has it but interesting how the five is the only one that they put it in kinda yeah but weird so this is the bill that you’ll probably see the most this is a thousand yen gonna give it like ten dollars also in Japan they use this bill a lot this is like a hundred dollar bill see you like that this is like a hundred dollar bill but unlike in Canada where some stores might give you like trouble for trying to use a big bill like a 100 in Japan it’s very common to use the 10000 yen bill so you don’t need to worry about it even if you buy something small that’s like a couple hundred yen you can use one of these and nobody seems like no you can’t do that that’s nice yeah so are the Japanese Koi said those of you guys away when I was having a great time yes maro did you get a haircut did you get a haircut show them your haircut it’s really bad I’m sorry I’m really sorry so his chest hair was getting really long and he would try to groom himself but it was so long it would just get like stuck in his mouth and he couldn’t groom it properly so I tried to trim it but it looks horrid I’m so sorry those re we’re going to try to use hair thinning scissors I kind of get like little points instead of these chunks so anybody has tips on how to cut cat hair please let me go I’m sorry that looks so good mmm I’m going to add a little maple syrup for sweetness and some good this whipped cream doesn’t get as thick as regular whipped cream but it’s decent yeah okay we’re going to show you guys what we caught today can we get anything up the recycle store she justshe got one gift for her friends you can’t show it in the video in case they wash it but then at the twice for we got a bunch of perler DS which one did you get she’s good she just got a bunch of single colored ones and then a little board for the Nano ones because she didn’t have one of those apparently they’re a lot cheaper in Japan then you can get some before in Canada stocked up and then I decided I’m going to try and make some of the cat I bought all these color green before block pink for the mouth in the ears two shades of pink white and yellow for their eyes and then I went to the dollar store and I got to my melody little ziplock bags to put the bees ink so don’t they’re going to be using all of them and then this is it case to put them all in just to keep them nice and the others to learn most these little plastic bags you can use them for so many different things if you do so many [Applause] so the Pokemon grass-type event is starting tomorrow which means all the grass pokemon are going to be a lot more common to find and also they made lures last for six hours so I feel like there aren’t really many grass pokemon that I want other than maybe symbol the source so I can strengthen my venusaur but that’s really all that I’m looking forward to how about you guys you still need some grass pokemon my sister is still needing some oh yeah you saw haven’t made a Venus or yet Bellsprout don’t damn this is great for you then guess this is what we’ll be doing tomorrow just as we started talking about Pokemon a larva tart popped up on the radar so for while you’re really fast to get it right now it’s like a clover away Nina oh it’s a run or a curry catch it oh my god got it I’m up to 71 candies I don’t have a good one so it’s not like I really want to evolve them anyways but oh well I got time we’ve been trying to figure out which bugs are making this mound it’s these I’m going dance is that a cricket I don’t want to move to get it from this side it’s like two inches long the biggest cricket I’ve ever seen in my life so how long have you been here now ah the fifth inning yeah oh really nice like that dreamy night and what do you think it’s really nice yeah it’s a really hot yes when I elect Victoria it was raining and like eight degrees so this is totally different and what do you think of the food oh the food here is amazing I really like to ask me food before I came to yeah I wasn’t worried about that being a problem yeah we’ve gone out for sushi twice we went out for it on both were really really really good yeah and I’m excited to try ramen food reels like Japanese groan we are back home and in pajamas and I’m just going to say good night here guys because I’m all sweaty from running for that Pokemon I just sort of film anymore it’s already like 10 something anyways 10 o’clock we’re going to bed soon thank you for watching and we’ll be back with more video soon ok [Music]

  1. Aww, poor kitty! He doesn't look too bad, but yeah, if you comb his chest floof out with a metal greyhound comb or a slicker brush, and then trim it up with thinning shears, it should blend right in. I used to groom dogs, and that's what we would do when pet parents brought in a dog and asked us to fix their DIY job XD Don't worry, it happens!

  2. Just curious, what don't you like about Japanese pads/tampons? Also, I hope you and your sister have a great time! Looking forward to the videos!! ๐Ÿ’•

  3. Those windmill cookies are indeed Dutch, it's called 'speculaas' in the Netherlands ๐Ÿ™‚ (you even pronounced it 100% correctly!)
You can find that same stuff in many variations and even flavors may vary a bit.

    How 'hot' is 'hot'? Temperature?

  4. I lowkey want to know what is wrong with Japanese tampons and pads lol

  5. You should never try to cut a cats hair with scissors unless you're a trained groomer because they might jerk and you might accidentally stab them. Also their skin and their fur tend to blend together and it's easy to cut them. Instead you should try those eyebrow trimmers or small clippers. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. so exciting that we get to see your sister! shes so sweet just like you ๐Ÿ™‚ maro was so cute lol

  7. The kiwi seems overpriced to me, but I pay nearly that for the rest of the produce here in Philadelphia, PA.

  8. Hey Sharla! I'm a cat and dog groomer. Best option for fixing him up is definately some thinning sheers. Whatever you do, don't go deep into the hair with them! It'll possibly make gaps. Just pretend you're skating over the hair with them to blend the pieces in with each other. DEFINITELY go slow! I wish I had a cat tomorrow and I'd make a video to show you!

  9. pretty sure that bug was a cicada. we have those in the southern us as well.

  10. and the 2000yen bill. I've got about 10 of those back home xD

  11. and the 2000yen bill. I've got about 10 of those back home xD

  12. Ohmigawd, the cat staring at us menacingly all "Dis mine meow D8< Get yo own T:<" 13:45.

  13. Welcome to Japan Shay. Hope you enjoy your time in Japan. As always, nice vlogs Sharla.

  14. Is your sister vegan as well? And has she ever met ur fiancรฉ before? And also it's really nice that u are letting her stay there with u she is lucky to be able to experience that I really hope she enjoys herself and id love to hear her thoughts and opinions on Japan

  15. You are lucky to get those nanobeads. They are so expensive to get outside of Japan

  16. Lol. Your sister is awesome and I love her glasses! I wish I was that close with my siblings.

  17. I loved the idea of running around Japan at night trying to catch pokemon! How fun! Hope your sister enjoys her time with you! But why wouldn't she? lol <3

  18. I love Shay!!!! ๐Ÿ˜„ She is totally your sister, I can't wait to see more. Any chance she will like it so much and want to live there?!

  19. It's the same for the US, lots of stores don't let you use $100 bills, and sometimes even $50!

  20. loved the video! And I've been wanting to see a money video, so Luna makes an excellent teacher! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ป

  21. You don't like Eve Quick DX?! Best pain killer ever! We could totally do a standing exchange ๐Ÿ˜‚

  22. Jeez, $2 for bananas? Wow, at my grocery store they are usually .63 cents lol

  23. Sharla it is so cool that your sis is with you, enjoy it the most.

  24. Those bugs making the loud noise are Cicadas i believe , I think japanese cicadas are the loudest. But omg here in Las Vegas My street is very green and in the summer time you go driving down and the sound it so loud it like vibrates the car

  25. I just got back home today from my two weeks trip in Japan and now it feels so weird to watch these videos when everything looks so familiar! I've been following you for years and i think from now on your videos will be very different to watch. ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. I'm late catching up on YouTube videos but I spy a Blogilates planner! I love mine!

  27. Hi, is it possible to shop groceries without packaging in japan? It seems like everything is wrapped in plastic..hmm.

  28. I think before living in Hawaii the prices seemed a bit high me, but after living in Hawaii most of the fruit you showed in the video was cheaper or at least reasonable xD

  29. omg I didn't know the melty nano beads were still around, I probably could still pick them out of the carpet in the house I grew up in

  30. Marrow really does look pissed ๐Ÿ˜€ better get her to a groomer xD

  31. where is that thrift store. I'm in japan atm and as I'm on a 3 month trip I was in china when it was cold so I didn't pack enough clothes for japanese heat. I need skirts and shorts lol

  32. i remember when you went back to Canada you were saying how people would mistake your voices for each other, i completely see why haha! :p ๐Ÿ’œ

  33. Aw you & ur fiance are so nice to invite her out &I give her an amazing experience! I hope you all have a great time and grow closer together as a familyโค๏ธ

  34. Did anyone else think,
hee hee its probably your come back to haunt you lol.

  35. I used a ยฅ10,000 yen bill for a ยฅ718 food bill and was like "Ughhh I'm so sorry! I don't have anything smaller!" And they looked so confused… possibly language barrier, but also possibly because it's not a big deal!!

  36. About the money… I had like 10 rare bills and had no idea about it ๐Ÿ˜‚ the 2000ยฅ… I was paying with them the whole time until I met with a Japanese friend, he said that it is extremely rare to see this note and that I should keep it safe ๐Ÿ˜‚
Now I have only 5 left as I had no idea it was rare ๐Ÿ˜…

  37. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผhope the change in scenery is beneficial to her. also she really does sound exactly like you. cheers… hoping to be in japan again this fall.

    -another Canadian

  38. I got an add for catfood before and while the video and the cat in the add was also a gray tiger

  39. Did you teach Shay any Japanese Language words yet ? How old is Shay compared to you ?

  40. The cat toy is a cat dancer and it's called that because it looks like the cat is dancing I have one for my cats too and they love it!

  41. compaired to my part of canada thats kinda cheap. yay for living out on the east coast.

  42. Those bugs are cicadas I believe. We have one near my house that loves to keep me awake on hot summer nights.

  43. From 10:10 it gave me strong tingles xD ASMR moment, omg. I love your videos Sharla, hope to see you guys in London someday ๐Ÿ˜€

  44. What do you do when you run out of tampons/painkillers/deodorant? Do you switch back to a Japanese brand? Or you ask your family to ship some more before you run out?

  45. It's great to see you and your sister together having such a good time. I know this trip is mainly about helping her (which is amazing) but it must be so wonderful for you, Sharla, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  46. In case someone hasn't already mentioned, the active ingredient in Advil is ibuprofen, which is found in a ton of Japanese painkillers (as ใ‚คใƒ–ใƒ—ใƒญใƒ•ใ‚งใƒณ). It does tend to be paired with caffeine a lot here, which research suggests is better at relieving pain together. So if you don't want that you should double check for it. But It seems to work as well for me as back home. ๐Ÿ™‚

But since you say it doesn't work for you here, I would check the dosage. That looks like 200mg tablets in that box? The one I have on my desk is 150mg, which might be similar with the help of the caffeine, but I've noticed that quantities here seem to be notably lower than I'm used to (from the US). If the recommended dosages result in less ibuprofen in your system, that might help explain it.

  47. ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ™๏ผณ๏ฝ What๏ผŸ๏ผŸ

  48. I gave the video a thumbs up, this is the first time in a few weeks I have been able to watch one of your videos.

  49. i was in japan a couple years ago and i was trying to figure out change for a vending machine and i had some 5 yen coins & i couldn't figure out how much they were worth, and my mom goes "there's an 8 on the back" (ๆ—ฅๆœฌ)… -_-

  50. Would it be possible your sister stay with you in japan permanently?

  51. i really wanna know wtf that bug was, it doesn't look like a cricket

  52. waaaait i figured it out. It's a grasshopper and that's its mating call. I didn't know grasshoppers made noise till now!

  53. ใซใ‚ƒใ‚“ใ“ใฎใ‚ซใƒƒใƒˆใ€ๅ€‹ๆ€ง็š„ใง็ด ๆ•ต๏ฝ—

  54. oh this is rllly random and a rlly wierd question but my partner was wondering if theres any version of the "make it rain " w $1 in japan like do strippers get pelted w 100 yen coins or do they get mad stacks of $10 bills thrown at them or is "making it rain" not a thing?? sorry for such a wierd question ;w;

  55. Shay seems really nice! I remember you saying your sister did Perler beads one time you went back to Canada. I've thought about doing them too…maybe I will try. I am not as crafty as I'd like to be.

  56. Wow, Luna likes ichiman-yen?๐Ÿ˜ She seems to recognize how much is on each bill. So cute.

  57. This is super late, but I'm a groomer, so I can help with Maro hair! You want to get either thinning shears or curved scissors when doing the chest. You also want to be holding the scissors down instead of going across the chest, so you get more of a natural cut than if you go straight across.

  58. Hey Sharla can you tell me some of the names and locations of thrift shops in Tokyo? I looking forward to go buy stuff. Thank you

  59. What are your phone cases? I really like them I see this one is black (you must have a couple) anyhow was just curious. Ty ๐Ÿ˜Š

  60. All my years playing Animal Crossing has finally paid off! That bug is a longheaded locust!

  61. 5 Yen is the only one with kanji because its the only coin that is believed to have a spiritual meaning of connection and thus used at temples or against superstition

  62. the cat toy is a cat dancer and they are AWESOME. I have purchased about a half dozen of them in the last few years because even my friends cat who does NOT play, loves them!

  63. The fruits cost literally the same in Argentina. Everything is expemsive here x'D D'x

  64. I keep wanting to reach into the screen an pet your cat, Luna? (The short hair playing with the money) so adorable and such amazing color.

  65. hahah this is amazing. Back when I was studying in Canada my mom brought me a dutch cheeseslicer because I couldn't find one in Alberta lol <3

  66. Your grandmother knows good cat toys! The one she sent is called a Cat Dancer. Cats love it!

  67. Did you just say โ€œIโ€™m adding some maple syrup because Iโ€™m canadian.โ€
