The federal government has declared Friday, December 1, as public holiday to mark the Eid-El-Maulud celebration. This was contained in a statement sent to NAIJ.com by the permanent secretary in the ministry of interior, Engineer Abubakar G. Magaji. According to the statement, the minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government. The minister enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians to use the Eid-El-Maulud Celebration to pray for peace, progress and unity of the nation. He further urged all Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration towards building the nation. Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, November 28, in Abidjan declared that all Nigerians stranded in Libya and other parts of the world will be brought home and rehabilitated. In a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the president vowed to reduce the number of Nigerians heading for Europe illegally through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea by providing basic social amenities such as education, healthcare, and food security at home.
