CBS 3 Pet Project: National Pet Parent Day

TIME FOR THE CBS-3 PET PROJECT WITH ANIMAL ADVOCATE CARROLL ERICKSON, OF SPCA AND DIAMOND THIS MORNING. DIAMOND IS VERY TALKATIVE. DIAMOND WAS JUST, BROUGHT TO THE PENNSYLVANIA SPCA TWO DAYS AGO. HER OWNER WAS IN A MET OR CYCLE ACCIDENT. YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW, FRIGHTENING THAT IS TO A DOG TO GO FROM A HOME TO A SHELTER AND NEW TO A TELEVISION STUDIO SO DON’T LET HER VOCAL SAYS HERE TURN YOU OFF ON THIS VERY NICE DOG. BUT THIS IS AN UPSETTING TIME AND IT LEAD INTO OUR TOPIC TODAY WHICH IS NATIONAL PET PARENT DAY. IT IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY. FIFTEEN ARE HUNDRED NATIONAL HOLIDAYS BUT THIS IS WITHIN WE HAVE MOTHERS DAY, FATHERS DAY AND ALL THOSE BUT THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO SPEND THEIR TIME WITH THEIR ANIMALS AND LOVE THEIR ANIMALS AND IF THEY WERE , THEIR CHILDREN. AND, DIAMOND’S OWNER D YOU CAN SEE DIAMOND REALLY IS, READY TO BOND, AGAIN, JOEY FROM SPCA BROUGHT HER AND SHE WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET BACK, HEY, IF I CANNOT BE WITH MY DAD CAN I BE WITH YOU. WE WILL TRY TO MAKE HER COMFORTABLE HERE. IT IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT PEOPLE REALLY NEED IF YOU ARE A RESPONSIBLE PET PARENT WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS REALIZE THAT SOMETHING CAN HAPPEN TO YOU AND YOU NEED TO MAKE PROVISIONS AHEAD OF TIME WITH YOUR PET THIS PERSON WHO OWNED THIS DOG DIDN’T. HE GOT INTO THE ACCIDENT, AND THEN THIS DOGGIES ON HER OWN, AND WAITING FOR SOMEBODY, AT A SHELTER TO COME TAKE CARE OF HER. SO, WHAT YOU NEED TO DOES WELL A HEAD OF TIME ASK SOMEBODY, HEY, SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME WILL YOU TAKE MY DOG. MAKE SURE THEY ARE KIND OF PERSON THAT WILL DO RIGHT BY YOUR AN MAL BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH THAT WE NEED TO DO LIKE THIS DOG WILL BE GOING HOME WITH JAN TODAY, IS THERE SO MUCH THAT WE NEED TO DO. YES. AHH. IS THERE SO MUCH THAT WE NEED TO DO AND WE DO SOMETHING RIGHT BY AN ANIMAL AND THAT INCLUDES MAKING SURE THAT YOU, THE TERM NOW IS NOT SO MUCH, OWNER BUT PET PARENT, AND THEN THAT IS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHERE THE EMERGENCY VET IS. YOU GET YEARLY CHECKUPS. YOU MAKE SURE EVERYBODY IN YOUR FAMILY TREATS THAT ANIMAL WITH RESPECT. MAKE SURE PEOPLE THAT ENCOUNTER THIS ANIMAL TREATS THEM WITH RESPECT. JUST LEARN THEIR WAYS. ANIMALS THRIVE ON ROUTINE THIS DOG’S ROUTINE COMPLETELY DISRUPTED, FROM LIVING AT HOME WITH SOMEBODY SHE WAS CRAZE BYE ON THE SOFA PROBABLY WATCHING TV AND THAT SORT OF THING NOW SHE’S HERE AND SHE’S TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE NEW LIFE IS, WHAT IS MY NEW ROUTINE. KEEP YOUR PETS ON A ROUTINE. KEEP THEM SOCIALIZED ACTIVE DON’T LEAVE THEM AT HOME ALONE , THEY DON’T WANT THAT. WHEN YOU START TO HIT THAT SIX , EIGHT, 10 HOUR MARK YOU NEED SOMEBODY TO GET THAT DOG OUT OCEANIZED THEM. IT IS A BIG RESPONSIBILITY. HUGE RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS IN THE A WHIM, TO GO GET A PET. IT IS SOMETHING THAW CONSIDER AHEAD OF TIME AND THEN MAKE PROVISIONS AFTER. IT NOISE DIFFERENT THEN YOUR HUMAN CHILDREN. YOU MAKE PROVISIONS FOR THAT. YOU GET PEOPLE TO PICK UP NEWSPAPER TO GO ON VACATION AND THAT SORT OF THING, THINK AHEAD FOR YOUR ANIMALS AS WELL AS SO MANY PEOPLE DO AND JUST MAKE SURE WHEN PEOPLE ARE ENGAGING WITH YOUR PET THAT THEY DO IT RIGHT. PEOPLE GO OFF THE WRONG WAY TO AN ANIMAL WHEN THEY GREET THEM THEY CROUCH OVER THEM, BEND DOWN, STICK A HAND IN THEIR FACE, THAT IS NOT WHAT ANIMALS WANT. LET THE DOG COME TO YOU. AND THEY WILL, AND THEY WILL FIND OUT, YOU PRETTY FRIENDLY AND THEN YOU WILL BE ABSOLUTELY FINE WITH THAT. IT IS JUST TAKING CONSIDERATION FOR YOUR ANIMAL. THIS IS, AGAIN NATIONAL PET PARENT DAY SO TAKE THE TIME TO DO THINGS THAT WILL IMPROVE THAT BOND BECAUSE THE BOND CAN ALWAYS BE IMPROVED. I KNOW THEY ARE WORKING HARD TO TRY TO FIT IN OUR WORLD. WE CAN DO VERY SAME FOR THEM. LETS LOOK AT OTHER ANIMALS AVAILABLE AT PENNSYLVANIA SPCA AND WE HAVE TUXEDO HERE, TUXEDO AN ADULT MALE DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR CAT CALLED TUXEDO BECAUSE HE IS ALWAYS DRESS SEWED FORMALLY RESCUED BY PENNSYLVANIA SPCA HUMANE LAW ENFORCEMENT TEAM THIS APRIL AND HE IS VERY SWEET CAT. DRAKE, WE HAVE DRAKE HERE, THIS IS A FOUR YEAR-OLD GREYHOUND MIX A FAVORITE AT THE SHELTER. HE DOESN’T ALWAYS SHOW IT WELL IN THE KENNEL. SO MANY OF THEM DON’T. GET THEM OUT TAKE THEM ONE ON ONE. THEY DON’T WANT TO BE IN THERE OR BEHIND BARS MORE THAN ANYBODY ELSE DOES SO GET THEM OUT. THAT IS A GREAT DOG NAME DRAKE THIS IS A PITY MIX RESCUED BY, LAW ENFORCEMENT TEAM. SHE’S BEAUTIFUL. BEAUTIFUL PERSONALITY. SHE’S IN SEARCH OF HER FOREVER FAMILY. JUST AN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, DOG. I THINK THAT THERE IS SO MANY OTHERS PLUS THERE IS A WAY TO GIVE BACK IN THE ONLY ADOPTING DIAMOND HERE THREE YEARS OLD, FEMALE, SHE JUST WANT TO BE YOUR PAL. THERE IS ALSO HONEY GROW A GREAT PLACE TO EAT, GREAT JUICE HEALTHY ORGAN THAT I CAN SORT OF THING TOMORROW ALL OF THE PENNSYLVANIA, NEW JERSEY LOCATIONS IF YOU MENTIONED GIVING LOCAL AT CHECK OUT 20 PERCENT OF YOUR ORDER WILL BE DONATED TO THE PENNSYLVANIA SPCA. SO THIS IS JUST A GREAT THING THAW CAN DO AND IT IS BASICALLY ALL DAY LICENSING TOMORROW. YOU GOT TO EAT, RIGHT. GOT TO EAT. AND TO HELP SOMETHING S P.C. AND HELP YOUR OWN PETS AS WELL.
